Off-Grid Drinking Water | Cup of Air
Off-grid drinking water from air
Off-grid properties — homes, farms, small lodges — often lack reliable mains water or depend on costly deliveries.
AWGs can supplement or replace part of deliveries when absolute humidity and the power source match the model.
Cup of Air plans the system with you — including solar, reserve and on-site or remote service.
Typical off-grid scenarios
- Holiday homes and eco lodges
- Agricultural sites
- Small tourist camps
- Backup source during outages
Challenges (and how we address them)
- No pipeline and irregular deliveries
- Limited power — an energy budget is required for the AWG
- Yield depends on absolute humidity (g/m³), not relative humidity alone: at the same RH, cold air holds less water vapour than warm air — we use real climate data, not hygrometer percentage alone
- Seasonal swings — sizing with reserve or hybrid supply
Example: eco home, 4–6 people
At a guide ~2–3 L/person/day drinking water, need is 8–18 L/day — often compact AWGs; higher use may need combined units.
Assessment by absolute humidity and run hours — required before quoting.
